304 vs 316 Stainless Steel

Understanding the difference between stainless steel grades helps you choose the right tank for your application:

  • 304 Stainless Steel - The most common grade. Excellent corrosion resistance for general applications including food, beverage, and dairy. Cost-effective and widely available.
  • 316 Stainless Steel - Contains molybdenum for superior corrosion resistance against chlorides and acids. Required for pharmaceutical, chemical processing, and marine environments.
  • 316L Stainless Steel - Low-carbon version of 316 for improved weldability. Preferred for pharmaceutical and high-purity applications where intergranular corrosion is a concern.

Not sure which grade you need? Call us and we'll help you select the right material for your application and budget.
